Disappearing Bogotá | Bogotá desapareciendo
Bursting with over ten million people, Bogotá, Colombia, is on the verge of an intense breaking point between tradition and modernity. Hypergentrification takes place at the speed of lightning, and the former urban layout of small pocket neighborhoods is rapidly being wiped out, rationalized, and streamlined. However, there are areas still vibrating on the verge between different layers of time, where tangible fragments and material remnants of past environments and inhabitants continue to speak to us through their subtle shifts between absence and presence. These photographs focus on the contrasted and chafed city – the forgotten, hidden, and perhaps even seemingly ugly, yet radiantly beautiful old city meeting the new urban order.
